Small Animal Anesthesia Prep

The Anesthesia Team at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital consists of 5 board certified veterinary anesthesiologists, and 10 to 15 certified veterinary technicians with specific training in anesthesia and pain management. The Anesthesia Team works together to provide the highest level of care for each patient, while educating junior and senior veterinary students in anesthesia techniques. After an evaluation of the patient's history, physical status, and laboratory values, team members develop an individualized anesthetic plan for drugs, support, and monitoring to ensure the health and safety of your animal. Additionally, the team works with members of the many other speciality services within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital to ensure that each patient's pain and anxiety is minimized during their hospital stay. If you should have any anesthetic or pain management related concerns for your animal, you are encouraged to request a consultation with the duty anesthesiologist through your assigned student or clinician.
