Small Animal Reception

Small animal reception staff coordinate appointments in small animal medicine and surgery, oncology, and zoological medicine, responding to the needs of our small animals and exotic patients. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital cares for approximately 22,000 small animals each year. Most are dogs and cats, but we also care for many other pets including birds, rabbits, ferrets, ‘pocket pets’ and reptiles. These companion animals come to the hospital with a wide variety of illnesses, yet have a common need for healing.
In our search for the source of your pet’s problems, we rely on state-of-the-art technology, our diagnostic skills and your knowledge of your animal’s behavior. We have yet to conquer the language barrier with your pet – a barrier that makes our work even more challenging. As always, the care of your pet is our top priority. Using a team management approach with a faculty clinician as the team leader, we ensure the highest level of attention to your pet as a unique individual and as a patient.
