Message from the Hospital Director, Dr. Dean Hendrickson |
| Thank you for visiting the Web site for the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the Veterinary Medical Center. I am proud to represent this exceptional organization. Our teaching hospital has a rich tradition of service excellence, and it is one of the most comprehensive animal care centers of its kind. You will find we are all animal lovers here, and we have unparalleled passion for our work, and our mission. Come let us show you why our team approach to animal care is world renown. The James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a world-class veterinary hospital devoted to the development and application of new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. This cutting-edge approach to veterinary medicine ensures our patients have access to the very best treatment options available. Because of our excellent reputation for quality, we are able to attract world-renown clinicians, well trained and dedicated nurses, and some of the top student doctors in the nation. Your animal will be attended to by a team of highly qualified individuals working to ensure optimal care and customer service. While the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is one of the largest veterinary facilities of its kind in the country, we strive to provide personal attention tailored to a client’s needs. Approximately one-half of our clients are referred to us by veterinarians across the country for medical problems that exceed the capabilities of a standard private practice. Our Animal Cancer Center is the world leader in the treatment of cancer in animals and is committed to research that enhances both animal and human lives. Our newly installed Varian Trilogy Linear Accelerator will allow us to offer stereotactic radiation therapy. The veterinary imaging capabilities found here are second to none in the U.S. with our state-of-the-art MRI, PET/ CT, and gamma camera. We are one of the few veterinary hospitals in the country to offer brain surgery and have the capability to surgically correct major heart defects. In total we offer 14 specialty services provided by board-certified veterinary specialists available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Many of our clients choose CSU for the primary care of their companion animals, exotics, horses, or food and fiber species. Our Community Practice provides most of the services available at your neighborhood small animal clinic but with the awesome capabilities of the medical center that surrounds them. The Equine and Food Animal Hospitals are made more accessible through their highly regarded ambulatory services. Because CSU understands the important bond that exists between humans and animals, our Argus Center for Families and Veterinary Medicine provides unique counseling support for clients and their families coping with the wide range of emotions that all animal-lovers experience. We sincerely hope that the compassion felt for animals by our students, staff, and clinicians is readily apparent to you and your animal. We hope this information will assist you whenever you use our hospital services. If you have any questions, please talk with the veterinarian in charge of your animal's care, our administrative staff, or a representative from our business office. We will do all we can to ensure you and your animal are treated with respect, compassion, and professionalism, and to assure we provide the best health care possible. Dr. Dean Hendrickson
