Fees and Payment Information

 The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is self-supporting and regulated by a state "fair competition" clause. Our fees are comparable to those of regional specialty private clinics.

The veterinarian in charge of your animal's care will provide you with a fee estimate. The estimate will list the approximate costs of services, procedures, tests, drugs, and supplies. The original fee estimate, which may reflect only the initial diagnostic and treatment plan, may change based on decisions you and your veterinarian make regarding your animal's care and treatment. We charge an emergency fee when patients are cared for by our out-of-hours emergency service to help fund the service and keep it available to patients requiring emergency care.

You have the right to decline any or all treatment suggested for your animal. The course of treatment is based on your decisions, with regard to your financial resources. If your financial resources are limited, please explain your situation to your veterinarian so that a less in-depth diagnostic treatment plan can be selected. The State of Colorado requires payment at the time of service if your animal is not being hospitalized. If your animal is hospitalized, half of the estimate is due prior to services being provided, and final payment is due at the time of discharge. Occasionally, statements are mailed for additional approved tests and/ charges not included in the initial invoice at discharge.

8 - 11 a.m., Saturday

Payments made at any time other than Business Office Hours should be given to a receptionist or the veterinarian on duty. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital accepts cash, single-party checks, VISA, and Mastercard.
